Filings Browser

Filings Browser Overview

The Filings Browser provides a comprehensive view of all rate filings in the Insuraviews system, allowing you to quickly navigate from high-level summaries to detailed filing analysis or original documents.

Key Concept: The browser displays summarized information extracted from filings that may contain hundreds or thousands of pages, giving you quick access to the most important data points without having to read through entire documents.

Available Filters

Configure your browsing experience using these filters:

Carrier - Select specific insurance companies (dropdown with "All" option)

State - Choose specific states or view all states

Line of Business - Filter by Personal Auto, Homeowners, Commercial Multi-Peril, etc.

Sub TOI - Additional sub-category filtering

Disposition Status - Filter by filing status (Approved, Pending, Withdrawn, etc.)

Filing Type - Narrow by specific filing types

Company - Additional company-level filtering

Product Name - Filter by specific insurance products

Date Range - Set start and end dates using calendar selectors

Saved Filters Feature:

  • Click "Saved Filters" to access previously saved filter combinations

  • Filters saved in the browser can be reused across other reports and views

  • This ensures consistent analysis parameters across different parts of the platform

Understanding the Filing List

The browser displays filings in a sortable table format with these key columns:

Carrier - Insurance company name (sortable)

SERFF Tracking - Clickable SERFF tracking number that links to detailed filing view

Product Name - Specific insurance product being filed

State - Filing jurisdiction

LOB - Line of Business (sortable)

Detailed Filing Analysis

When you click on any SERFF tracking number, you access a comprehensive filing summary page that includes:

Filing Header Information:

  • Company name

  • Product line

  • SERFF tracking number with effective and renewal dates

  • Heart icon for saving/favoriting filings

  • "Download as PDF" button - Access the original filing document

Key Metrics Dashboard: The system displays critical metrics in an easy-to-read card format:

  • Rate Impact: actual impact on premiums

  • Indicated Change: company's requested change

  • Written Premium: premium volume affecte

  • Policy Holders Affected: number of customers impacted

  • Average Premium Change: dollar impact per policy

  • Max Change: highest rate change in any category

Filing Description:

  • Detailed summary of the filing's purpose and key components

  • Actuarial justifications and supporting analysis

  • Regulatory concerns and responses

  • Example: Analysis of hurricane loss costs, combined ratio information, and Loss Adjustment Factors

Regulatory Activity Tracking:

  • Responses: DOI objections and company responses with dates

  • Amendments & Attachments: Document updates and additions

  • Change Log: Detailed history of filing modifications including:

    • Rate changes (e.g., "Increase rate by 5.3% from 6% to 12%")

    • Premium impact changes

    • Effective date modifications

    • Policyholder impact adjustments

Additional Features:

  • Related Filings: Links to similar or connected filings

  • View Product History: Access historical filing patterns for the product

  • Geographic and product tags

Use Cases

  • Market Research: Quickly scan all filings in a specific state or line of business

  • Competitive Intelligence: Track specific carriers' filing patterns and strategies

  • Regulatory Analysis: Monitor DOI responses and approval patterns

  • Due Diligence: Access both summaries and original documents for thorough analysis

  • Trend Identification: Use saved filters to regularly monitor specific market segments
