Market Research

Keyword Search and Filtering

• Identify key information that can be captured in a word or phrase.

Search results for 'Telematics'.

• After searching for that information, apply relevant filters to bring results more in line with expectations. You can also narrow search results through the Description, Objection, and Rating Factors tabs at the top of the results.

If you regularly use the same filters across many searches and reports, you can save them using the 'Saved Filters' drop down on the right of the filter section. This allows you to apply saved filters anywhere you have the option to filter results.

• Once you have these results, you can view some details at a glance by selecting the Show More Context option.

• To generate a report based on the search results, select Export to Brief Builder to create a new brief.

  • See the Trend Identification section for more details on using the Brief Builder.

• To analyze individual results, select a filing to view the filing detail view. This will show an executive summary, key details like rate impact, and the filing's underwriting companies.

  • The Objections tab will let you review the conversation between the filer and the DOI reviewer as well as view the reviewer's DOI profile. This can help you analyze upcoming filings that might face similar objections.

  • The Rating Factors page shows all of the identified factors for that filing, which can inform rating calculations and factors in new filings.

  • The Product History tab shows historic filings for the connected product, allowing you to analyze how the filing has changed over time.

Competitive Intelligence

Single Carrier View

• Identify a carrier and apply any relevant filters that you are looking to research.

• Key information like policyholders, rate impact, and written premium change are shown at the top of the results.

• Graphs for Rate Change vs Industry and Rate Impact vs Industry by State are generated for additional analysis of rate information.

• A heat map of the US is also generated using the rate impact and written premium by program, showing trends for this carrier at a national level.

  • For additional research, click on a state in the heat map to be taken to the filings browser, where the results shown are the filings that make up that state in the heat map.

Multi Carrier View

• Identify a set of carriers that you are looking to research.

The Multi Carrier View loads with a Start Date because, by default, all carriers are shown, and loading the full history for every carrier is slow. Be sure to adjust this start date to your desired window when selecting your filters.

• The report generates graphs showing Average Rate Impact, Total Written Premium, Weighted Average New Premium, Average Rate Impact Across Size of Program, and a heat map of Rate Impact and Premium per Program, so there's plenty of comparison data available across the selected carriers.

• Each of the graphs listed above can be clicked through to go to the filings browser to view the filings used to generate that graph (this excludes the Average Rate Impact by Size of Program graph).

Regulatory Analysis

DOI View and Reviewer Profiles

• Identify a filter combination for the area where you are writing filings.

• Filtering then shows a graph of the Top 10 Reviewers Ranked by # of Days to Approval.

  • In this case 'Top 10' refers to the 10 reviewers with the longest time for approval for the selected filters.

• Below the Top 10 graph is the Average Days to Approval by Rate Impact graph, which by default shows the industry average in gray. By clicking through the Top 10 graph, or selecting a reviewer in the top right, you can compare an individual's days-to-approval by rate impact against the industry average.

• Selecting a reviewer also loads their Reviewer Profile, which highlights trends in their review process, as well as links to filings they were the primary reviewer for — great for researching a primary reviewer you're unfamiliar with you can prepare for their potential objections.

Due Diligence

Original filings and Database Accessibility

• Filings and Supporting Documents can be downloaded from the Filing Detail View, and the Product History tab lets you compare different iterations of a product's filings over time. This can be helpful in analyzing original filings and evaluating the evolution of a product.

• To review similar information at a larger scale, the Query Builder can be used to view the extracted information stored in our database. This can be done through a Natural Language Query, or by writing a customized SQL query.

• Natural Language Queries require a lot of specific wording when generating a query, so be sure to mention any information you'd like to see; otherwise, it may be excluded.

• Results from the Query Builder can be exported as a CSV file, so this is a great option if you are looking to gather data to use in another tool, or would like to do additional analysis in a program like Excel.

Trend Identification

Brief Builder

• Before identifying filters for the data, first select the type of brief, as well as the analytical lens for the brief.

  • Intelligence Briefs focus on the filing and supporting documents, with the lens guiding the specifics of that focus:

    • General Market Intelligence looks for trends in competitor presence, market entry and expansion, and filing volume and frequency.

    • Rate and Pricing Analysis looks at rate change trends, pricing structures, and regulatory rate patterns.

    • Form Trend Analysis looks at new or expanded exclusions, coverage scope modifications, and policy language.

    • Keyword Deep Dive adds a filtering option that allows for a keyword filter along with the standard filter set. It focuses on keyword usage patterns, context and language changes, and emerging risk identification.

  • Objection Briefs focus on the objections and responses, as well as the amendments and new attachments that come with the process of trying to get a filing approved. The available lenses are simpler than the options for Intelligence Briefs:

    • Short Form Objection Response lens generates a concise summary of objection patterns.

    • Long Form Objection Response lens generates an expanded analysis of objection patterns grouped by recurring themes linked to filings.

    • Keyword Deep Dive adds a filtering option, much like it does for Intelligence Briefs.

In either brief type, Keyword Deep Dive can be used as a standalone lens, or it can be applied in addition to any of the other lens options, allowing additional layers of customization and filtering on top of those lenses.

• After selecting a brief type and lens, identify a filter combination that sets the filings you are interested in researching.

• Each brief will generate with a header, showing the context of the generated brief: the filters, keywords, and lenses will appear here. It also includes an 'Evidence Strength' rating for the selected filings used to generate the brief

The 'Evidence Strength' rating is based on filing volume, cross-carrier corroboration, and geographic consistency. It does not represent importance, correctness, prediction, or recommendation.

• Each brief will also generate with a sidebar, showing the current lens and the filing scope. It also includes options to change the current scope and current lens, allowing you to modify a report to be more in line with expectations.

• The body of the brief will vary based on the selected brief type and lens. The information shown in these reports will include links to the filings used to create those insights. Source filings are also linked in a final section of the brief.

• Briefs are a great way to get a report on a larger set of filings, as a way to identify trends and patterns that can be further researched through other reports and tools.
